Overview

This is a 80mm f/2.8 lens made for the Hasselblad 500 Series V System, manufactured by Carl Zeiss. It served as the standard lens for the system across multiple iterations: the original C, updated CF, and electronically enhanced CFE. The lens uses the Planar optical design with a simple seven-element, five-group formula and features T* multicoating, introduced in the 1970s. It has a built-in leaf shutter, indicated by the "C" designation, and supports close focusing to 3 feet (0.9m).

Design

The "C" in the model name stands for Central (leaf) shutter, located within the lens. The C version includes a built-in depth-of-field computer and self-timer — features absent in later CF and CFE models. It has all-metal fluted focus rings and uses the Planar lens design with Zeiss T* coating. All versions use an in-lens shutter, and the CFE variant (2000–2013) adds electronic contacts for improved camera communication.
