The Sony TC-2140 is a stereo cassette deck introduced in 1975. Design
The TC-2140 uses an F&F (ferrite & ferrite) head with an all-ferrite structure, offering abrasion resistance approximately 200 times that of permalloy. It is equipped with a 3-stage switchable tape selector, a DC servo motor with FG, and a Sony limiter recording switch that activates automatically on large input signals to prevent distortion. The unit also includes a line/microphone selector switch, built-in auto shut-off, lock-type pause button, and MPX filter.
Market
The Sony TC-2140 had an original price of ¥39,800 at release in 1975. An optional dust protector, the DP-28, was sold separately for ¥3,500.
