Design
The SS-7330A uses a 3-way bass reflex cabinet constructed from 20 mm thick hard particleboard with a wood finish. It features Sony's low-distortion magnetic circuit design, incorporating a notch in the center pole and a thick copper plating or cap to reduce non-linear distortion. The drivers include dust-proof caps for improved sound insulation and diaphragms made from selected Northern European pulp to minimize sound turbidity. The crossover network uses large air-core coils with low DC resistance to prevent distortion under high input. The system includes continuously variable level controls for the mid and high ranges and a multi-amplifier selector switch to remove the LC network for direct driver amplification.
Market
Users report that the SS-7330A delivers neutral sound with a wide soundstage and strong bass extension, suitable for both music and home theater use, and is easy to drive with most amplifiers. However, the foam surrounds on the woofers are prone to deterioration and often require replacement, and original replacement drivers are difficult to source.
