Sony SS-3300
A floorstanding, 3-way speaker system released by Sony with a 16 Ω impedance and a 30 Hz to 20,000 Hz frequency range.
Overview
The Sony SS-3300 is a floor-type, 3-way speaker system introduced by Sony. It features separate drivers for low, mid, and high frequencies, housed in a rigid enclosure designed for accurate sound reproduction. The system was built to complement high-fidelity transistor amplifiers of the era, emphasizing transient response and dynamic clarity. With a high sensitivity of 98 dB/W, it delivers strong acoustic output from modest amplifier power.

Design
The SS-3300 uses an LC-type 12dB/oct. crossover network with air-core inductors and MP capacitors, designed for low distortion and efficient power transfer. The woofer features a special edge structure and treated corn paper cone for improved damping and low-frequency control. The enclosure is constructed from 25 mm thick lumber core material and finished with top-grade Eurasian cheek, with a black woven fabric front grille. The crossover includes a switch to disconnect the network, enabling independent multi-channel operation of the woofer, midrange, and tweeter.
