A belt-drive turntable system from Sony with precision tonearm controls and a low-noise DC servo motor.

Overview

The Sony PS-2410 is a belt-drive turntable developed as a successor to the PS-2400. Built with a solid wood base and a removable acrylic dust cover, it was designed for both stability and visual appeal. It features a static balanced universal S-type tone arm with multiple adjustments, including head-shell angle, tracking, and lateral balance via an internal force cancellation system. The included IM-type cartridge uses a 0.5 mil diamond stylus on a tapered cantilever, with a recommended tracking force of 1.5g to 2.5g. Known for great sound quality and a sleek appearance, this model was part of Sony’s high-fidelity turntable line.

Design

The PS-2410 uses a low-speed DC servo motor with a rubber damper to isolate vibration and reduce noise. Speed switching and adjustment are handled electronically via a dedicated IC in the servo circuit. The turntable bearing is oil-less metal, requiring no lubrication. The tone arm employs a gimbal support system with a high-precision pivot bearing and allows for head-shell angle and cartridge tilt adjustments. Output cables are low-capacitance RCA types to minimize high-frequency loss. The cabinet is thick and includes a special insulator to absorb external vibration, and a replacement shell holder is mounted on the unit.

Market

The Sony PS-2410 originally sold for ¥42,800 around 1973. A current listing in one market shows a price of ₨64,175.00. It is described by users as having great sound quality and a great appearance.
