Blacet TimeMachine
An analog delay effects module by Blacet, built around BBD technology with extensive modulation capabilities.
Overview
The Blacet TimeMachine is an analog delay effects module designed for modular synthesizer systems. It is recognized within the modular synth community as a distinctive FX module known for its lo-fi character and rich modulation features. The module uses Bucket Brigade Device (BBD) chips to create delay effects and includes an internal LFO, offering a wide range of sonic textures. It has been described as a "brilliant module" and a "beast" due to its modulation possibilities, though one user noted it becomes less effective as a clean delay above 300ms, instead excelling at further "lofi-izing" sound.
Design
The TimeMachine is an analog delay unit based on BBD (Bucket Brigade Device) technology. It features an internal LFO and offers "all the modulation possibilities," making it highly flexible for experimental audio processing. PCBs for the module were provided by John Blacet, with panel versions later produced by re:synthesis/synthCube for MOTM and MU formats.
Market
A used Blacet TimeMachine was listed for $400. DIY builders can obtain PCBs and a Mouser parts list for self-construction. A known hardware fix involves swapping two wires on the back of the DAMP switch to correct a wiring issue.
