The SL sensor stack is not as thin as the Leica M's, but it handles wide angle lenses surprisingly well and performs close to the M in that regard.
Context
The Leica SL was the first iteration of the current SL system, followed by the SL2 in 2019 and the SL3.
Market
The Leica SL had an original price of $7,450 USD, later reduced to $5,995 in July 2017 and $4,250 by July 2019. A used unit listed on Leica Camera Classic included the original box, documents, battery, charger, and strap for $1,695.00. Some users found the system pricing expensive and the menu system unintuitive, while others praised its performance, with one noting they sold all their Sony gear to afford it.
