Overview

The Fujifilm FinePix X100 is a digital camera introduced in 2011 as the inaugural model in Fujifilm’s X100 line. It was the world’s first camera to combine an optical and electronic viewfinder in a single unit, switching automatically via an eye sensor. Designed for enthusiasts, it features a fixed 23mm f/2 ASPH lens (35mm equivalent) and a 12.3 MP APS-C CMOS sensor, delivering high image quality in a compact form. Design

The X100 features a dual optical and electronic viewfinder system with automatic eye-sensor control that switches between the rear LCD and viewfinder. Its controls are designed for intuitive operation, with physical knobs that can be adjusted easily, even without looking.

Context

Announced in September 2010 and released in March 2011, the Fujifilm FinePix X100 was the first camera to offer a hybrid optical/electronic viewfinder. It had no predecessor and launched a new product line, later succeeded by the Fuji X100S (2013–2014), X100T (2014–2017), and X100F (2017–).

Market

As of April 2019, the used market price for the Fuji X100 was around $300. The original retail price was $1,199 in the US.
