Design

The X-T30 uses a backside-illuminated APS-C X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor and features Fujifilm’s Ultra Sonic Vibration system for sensor cleaning. It includes a built-in flash—uncommon in Fujifilm’s pro lineup—and a hard but semi-rubbery ring around the eyepiece. Controls include a VIEW MODE button and focus dial, though it lacks a dedicated ISO dial. The body looks and feels like a miniature 35mm SLR, reminiscent of the Nikon F2AS.

Context

The X-T30 is smaller than the X-T3 and was noted by photographer Ken Rockwell as his favorite Fujifilm interchangeable-lens camera. Unlike the X-T3, it includes a built-in flash. Its dimensions match those of the X-T20, maintaining a compact form factor while offering advanced performance.

Reception

The X-T30 is praised as an incredibly capable stills and video hybrid, with top-notch image and 4K video quality. Its color science is highly optimized for people pictures, delivering glowing skin tones, though less ideal for vivid nature or landscape shots. Market

By 2025, the semi-rubbery materials around the eyepiece, focus dial, and VIEW MODE button may degrade and become sticky after six years of use. If the battery drains completely after a year of inactivity, all menu settings reset and can be difficult to reconfigure.
