Technics SU-V7X (1984–1985)
A high-performance integrated amplifier from Technics’ SU-V series, designed for precision and built around advanced Class A and computer-driven circuitry.
Overview
The Technics SU-V7X is a stereo integrated amplifier produced from 1984 to 1985 by Technics, a brand of Panasonic. It was engineered as a cost-effective alternative based on the SU-V10X platform while maintaining high fidelity. This model stands out for its inclusion of both phono (MM and MC) and video input capabilities, rare for amplifiers of its class. It supports independent recording source selection and features front-panel audio/video inputs for added convenience.

Design
The SU-V7X uses Technics’ Computer Drive New Class A technology to eliminate transient distortion in real time via a microcomputer-controlled system, while switching and crossover distortion are eliminated by a bias circuit independent of the signal system. The pre-drive stage employs a high-performance operational amplifier for gain control, while an independent bias circuit isolates the signal path. A concentrated power block integrates the output stage and power supply to reduce high-frequency electromagnetic distortion. The power transformer uses oxygen-free copper with a high-density winding technique, and low-ESR capacitors ensure clean power delivery. The phono stage is based on MC design principles, and the tone control includes two-stage turnover switching for precise shaping.
Context
The SU-V7X is part of the Technics SU-V series, which includes the SU-V1X, SU-V2X, SU-V4X, and SU-V6X. It was developed as a cost-performance alternative derived from the SU-V10X platform, offering advanced circuitry in a more accessible package.
