Luxman PD350 (1983)
A high-inertia belt-drive turntable released in September 1983, designed for use with a separate vacuum unit to stabilize the record during playback.
Overview
The Luxman PD350 is a precision turntable manufactured by Luxman and released in September 1983. It features a 30 cm aluminum die-cast platter with a brass layer, weighing 9.5 kg, and is driven by a brush & slotless DC servo motor via a super aramid belt. The turntable was designed to work with the separately sold vacuum unit VS300, which provides both vacuum stabilization and power supply for the PD350. The chassis uses a high-rigidity integrated structure with isolated mounting points for the turntable bearing and tonearm base, allowing users to select and install their preferred arm base from the TF or TG series.

Design
The PD350 uses a vacuum adsorption system to secure the record to the platter, requiring the separately sold VS300 vacuum unit. Its platter has an inertial mass equivalent to 1.2 tonnes, enhancing rotational stability. The chassis integrates the turntable bearing and arm base mounting into a rigid structure, with insulation to reduce external vibrations. The arm base is sold separately, with compatibility for both TF and TG series bases, allowing customization based on tonearm choice.
Market
The Luxman PD350 had an original price of ¥240,000 in 1983. The vacuum unit VS300 was sold separately for ¥30,000, while replacement sealing pad sets (SP-3) were priced at ¥2,000. Arm bases were available individually: TF series for ¥5,000 and TG series for ¥10,000.
