Design

The L65 uses a 30 cm cone-type woofer (126A) with a powerful magnetic circuit featuring a 7.5 cm edgewise winding and a large Alnico V magnet, along with a die-cast concentric ring on the voice coil to reduce distortion. The midrange driver is a 13 cm cone-type LE5-5 with a large-diameter voice coil, while the high-frequency section employs a 3.6 cm horn-type tweeter (077) for wide frequency response, high efficiency, and broad directivity. The enclosure utilizes a bass reflex design, and the speaker was offered with a choice of blue, brown, or red grille cloth to match interior aesthetics.

Context

It shared design philosophies and component technologies with other models of the era and was succeeded by the L166 Horizon. Its placement in the lineup situates it below the flagship L300 Summit but alongside contemporaries like the L112 and L150.
