JBL’s own enclosure guide spells it out clearly: the 2118H isn’t just dropped into any box. It demands precision tuning to deliver its full potential.

Sealed Sub-Chamber Required

Models 2118, 2123, and E110 used for midrange require a small, sealed sub-chamber of approximately 0.4 cubic feet (7 liters / 0.25 cu ft) net internal volume.

When opting for a tube design, loosely pack the interior with a “jelly roll” of fiberglass, then seal the driver’s back cavity using the baffle cutout. Remember: include the sub-chamber’s external volume when calculating the total box displacement.
