The 033 was a unique dome tweeter using a resin-impregnated linen diaphragm, developed specifically for the L150. It offered a slightly warmer, more natural high-frequency character compared to the aluminum-deposited designs.

Historical Context
The 033 was an interesting detour in JBL's tweeter evolution. While most of the lineup moved toward aluminum-deposited phenol domes, the 033's linen-based diaphragm offered a different flavor of high-frequency reproduction that complemented the L150's passive radiator bass system.
The use of natural fiber (linen) impregnated with resin was an alternative approach to achieving the ideal stiffness-to-mass ratio, resulting in a slightly more organic, less "hi-fi" sound that some listeners preferred.
