Design
The Confidence C1 Platinum features drivers manufactured in-house by Dynaudio, including the Esotar2 tweeter with a precision-coated silk dome for refined high-frequency reproduction. The cabinet breaks from traditional cuboid shapes, using a wide, optically separate front baffle that tapers downward, with the tweeter positioned at the lower edge to reduce diffraction. The enclosure is very narrow and deep, contributing to improved sound staging. It uses a first-order crossover (-6 dB/oct) built with high-quality capacitors and expensive Caddock resistors, reflecting the design philosophy that even simple topologies demand premium components. Internal wiring is upgraded, and the midwoofer is loaded directly into its enclosure for better integration.
Context
The original Confidence C1 was developed in the mid-1990s as the foundation of Dynaudio’s new Confidence line and quickly earned acclaim, becoming a favorite of company owner Wilfried Ehrenholz for his personal system. Over time, it evolved through the C1 II and limited C1 Signature versions, which debuted at major audio shows in 2011. The Confidence Platinum line was born by applying lessons and upgrades from the flagship Evidence Platinum series, elevating the C1 to a new performance tier. Positioned below the Evidence Platinum but above earlier Confidence models, the C1 Platinum became a reference in compact high-end loudspeaker design.
