Alesis Fusion 6HD (2005)
61-note semi-weighted keyboard workstation with 4 synthesis types, 8-track hard disk recording, and expandable sampling
Overview
The Alesis Fusion 6HD is a professional keyboard workstation released in 2005, featuring a 61-note semi-weighted Fatar TP-9 keybed with velocity and aftertouch sensitivity. Built in Taiwan, it combines four synthesis engines: Sample Playback, Virtual Analog, FM, and Physical Modeling, drawing virtual analog sounds from the Ion, Micron, and A6 Andromeda. The Fusion 6HD includes an 8-channel, 24-bit hard disk recorder with a 40 GB internal drive and supports audio and MIDI sequencing via a 32-track MIDI / 8-track audio sequencer with 480 ppq resolution. It runs on a Coldfire processor with 7 DSPs and was updated to OS version 1.24 by 2007.

Design
The Fusion 6HD uses a Coldfire processor surrounded by 7 high-performance DSPs, with separate main, digital, analog, and I/O PCBs. It features an internal switching power supply and a CCFL-backlit display driven by a dimmer and inverter PCB. The audio circuitry includes MC33079 quad op-amp ICs. Sampling is 16-bit at 44.1 kHz, with 11 minutes 53 seconds of record time using 64 MB RAM, expandable to 37 minutes 15 seconds. It supports import of WAV, AIFF, Akai S-series, and SoundFont 2 files via Alesis Fusion Converter software.
Context
The Fusion 6HD shares components and architecture with the Fusion 8HD, which features a weighted keyboard. Both models are part of Alesis' shift toward high-end workstations, diverging from their budget reputation. The Fusion series represents a convergence of Alesis’ legacy in digital recording (ADAT) and synthesis innovation.
