Balda Balda 844 Electronic
A camera produced by Balda-Werk, a major German camera manufacturer active in the early to mid-20th century.
Overview
The Balda 844 Electronic is a camera made by Balda, a company founded by Max Baldeweg in Dresden in 1908. Balda grew to become one of Germany's largest camera manufacturers by volume during the 1920s and 1930s. After WWII, the original factory was heavily damaged and the company split, with a West German operation established in Bunde. This post-war branch focused on mass-market models like the Baldessa and Super Baldamatic before production ended in the 1960s.
Product Family
The Balda 844 Electronic's position within the Balda lineup is not documented. Other known Balda camera series include the Baldax, a medium format folder; the Baldina, a 35mm folding camera; and the Baldessa and Super Baldamatic, which were part of the company's later consumer-focused offerings.
