Luxman B-1000f

Flagship monoblock power amplifiers developed over fifteen years, released following board approval in 2003 and first exported in 2007.

Overview

The Luxman B-1000f is a pair of flagship monoblock power amplifiers designed by Luxman. Development took fifteen years, with the company’s board approving completion in 2003. The amplifiers were first exported outside Japan in the third quarter of 2007. Built as a statement of engineering excellence, they deliver massive power across low impedances and have received widespread critical acclaim for their neutrality, bass performance, and transparency.

Design

The B-1000f uses ODNF (Only Distortion Negative Feedback) version 2.3 in a circuit designed for ultra-wide bandwidth, ultra-high slew rate, and ultra-low distortion, eliminating the need for phase compensation in the signal path. The chassis features high vibration absorption, with layout isolating the power transformer, electrolytic capacitors, and output stage to prevent interference. A proprietary 55-pound EI transformer is wound with 2mm flat OFC copper wire, and its output leads connect directly to a solid copper bus bar. The amplifier includes RJ11 connectors for 12V DC remote triggering and oversized five-way speaker binding posts with locking mechanisms.

Context

Development of the B-1000f spanned fifteen years, culminating in Luxman board approval in 2003. The amplifiers were first exported outside Japan in Q3 2007, marking their international availability after years of engineering refinement.

Market

The Luxman B-1000f received multiple awards including the Sound Gold Prize (2005), Stereo Sound Grand Prix (2005), and SoundStage Reviewer's Choice (2008). One listing noted a price of £17,362 in 2013, though original context is unclear.
