Design

The Milestone 950 uses the 950-8B coaxial 2-way unit, a direct descendant of Altec Lansing's Duplex technology. The unit integrates a 15-inch woofer with a heat-resistant voice coil and a central throat housing a 1-inch compression driver behind a flower-petal horn. This horn provides a nominal 90-degree dispersion in both horizontal and vertical planes, creating a nearly square directional pattern for consistent sound quality across a wide listening area. The enclosure is a bass-reflex design constructed from 18 mm birch veneer, selected for strength and acoustic performance, and was developed using computer simulation based on Thiele & Small parameters alongside input from experienced audio engineers.
