The Altec Lansing DIG is a bookshelf speaker system released in 1971, designed and developed by Elec (エレクトリ), the Japanese distributor of Altec Lansing. It features a 20 cm coaxial speaker unit, model 409B, combining a cone woofer and cone tweeter in a single assembly. The DIG mkII is an improved version of the original DIG.

Design
The DIG uses a 20 cm coaxial speaker unit, model 409B, which integrates a 20 cm cone woofer and a cone tweeter in a coaxial structure. A special diffuser is mounted in front of the tweeter to enhance high-frequency directional characteristics. The magnetic circuit is engineered to concentrate magnetic flux efficiently within the voice coil, using Ceramic Typhon In DACS V for the low-frequency section and Alnico V for the high-frequency section. The crossover network is built directly into the speaker unit. The enclosure employs a bass reflex system. The front is covered with special woven cotton wool optimized for high-frequency transmission, and the lower side features a RUNNET end plate. The cabinet has a walnut oil stain finish, treated with direct imported oil.
