Design

The Aiwa CA-70 features a hidden passive radiator system called "Acoustic 3D," located beneath the tape deck and powered by air from ports on the sides where the detachable speakers connect to the central unit. This radiator only functions when the speakers are attached and has a foam surround, as do the main speakers. The system includes a detachable full remote control, a hearing protection function (Ear Guard), and a Super Bass audio feature. The full metal body contributes to its structural integrity and acoustic isolation.

Market

The Aiwa CA-70 was listed for $100 approximately three years prior to the listing date, typically sold as non-functioning for parts or repair. Common maintenance issues include deteriorated foam surrounds on both the main speakers and the passive radiator, requiring refoaming; cleaning of controls; and replacement of tape deck belts. A blown fuse may also be a potential repair issue. The service manual is available for purchase to support restoration.
