Design
The Advent Graduate features an 8” long-throw woofer in a sealed acoustic suspension enclosure and a 3/4” polyamide soft dome tweeter, the same tweeter used in the Advent Baby. The design emphasizes acoustic suspension principles pioneered by Henry Kloss. Each speaker includes solid Pecan wood trim on the top and bottom, contributing to its distinctive appearance and structural quality.
Context
The Graduate was introduced during the 'golden age' of Advent, prior to the company’s shift to Chinese-designed models. Advent Corporation, founded in Cambridge, Massachusetts by Henry Kloss in 1967, was acquired by Jensen in 1979 and ceased operations in 1981. The Graduate slots into the brand’s product lineup between the Prodigy and Baby series and was developed as an updated successor to the Smaller Advent.
