Accuphase T-108 (1990–1993)
FM stereo tuner with quartz synthesizer tuning, balanced outputs, and wooden side panels, produced from 1990 to 1993.
Overview
The Accuphase T-108 is an FM stereo tuner manufactured by Accuphase Laboratory, Inc. from 1990 to 1993. It features a quartz synthesizer tuning system with 16-station random memory and manual or automatic tuning via a large rotary knob. The tuner includes 16 preset memory slots, a fluorescent digital frequency display, and a selectable signal strength or multipath meter. It was designed to integrate visually and technically with other components in the Accuphase line, featuring wooden side panels and a champagne gold scratch hairline finish.

Design
The T-108 uses a crystal oscillator for tuning and features a double-tuned configuration in the front-end input and amplifier stages. The frequency-conversion mixer is a differential-FET balanced modulator with a balloon transformer, and a PIN diode attenuator handles high input levels. It employs Accuphase's DGL detection method with a group-delay flat IF filter and two IF filter modes (Normal and Narrow). The stereo demodulator uses a PLL circuit with a ceramic resonator and variable reactance control. The tuner includes balanced XLR output (200 Ω), fixed and variable RCA outputs, and a remote control. The front panel has a champagne gold finish with natural persimmon wood side panels matching other models in the series.
Context
The T-108 succeeds the T-107 and is described as not as inexpensive as its predecessor. It is the only Accuphase tuner designed to match other series components with wooden side panels, contributing to its desirability. Other models in the Accuphase tuner line include the T-100, T-101, and T-106.
Market
Well-preserved examples of the T-108 currently cost around €1,000. It is fairly rare on the second-hand market. Recent eBay listings show functional units selling for €799.00 and €586.35, while replacement lamps are listed for €8.90.
