Accuphase P-360 (1991)
Stereo power amplifier released in March 1991 with 400W/ch into 2Ω and advanced MOS FET + cascode drive topology.
Overview
The Accuphase P-360 is a high-power stereo amplifier developed as a successor to the P-300 series, released in March 1991 by Accuphase Laboratory, Inc. It delivers 400W per channel into 2Ω in stereo mode and can be bridged for monophonic operation, providing up to 800W into 4Ω. The design features a symmetrical layout consistent with other Accuphase power amplifiers, with extensive use of FETs and transistors—63 transistors, 32 FETs, 10 ICs, and 77 diodes—across its circuitry.

Design
The P-360 uses a symmetrical design shared across Accuphase's power amplifier series, with a MOS FET + cascode push-pull circuit in the drive stage and bipolar transistors in the output stage. The output devices employ 7-parallel push-pull transistors per channel, capable of delivering 210A within 1ms. The predriver operates in class A cascode push-pull configuration, and the input uses a direct-coupled balanced differential complementary push-pull stage with FET input buffers. DC servo circuitry prevents DC amplification. Level control is handled by a 1-dB stepped double attenuator with mirror-finished resistors for low distortion. The input selector switches between one balanced and two unbalanced inputs, with front-panel access for one unbalanced RCA. Speaker outputs can be switched or paralleled. A dedicated headphone amplifier with FET servo control isolates the main circuit. The front panel features a gold power button and conceals controls behind a flap, including headphone jack, input selector, and speaker switches. Natural persimmon wood side panels and a champagne gold finish complete the chassis.
Context
The P-360 was developed as the successor to the P-300 series and represents a more recent design than both the P-300 and P-500 series models.
Market
Current listings range from €3,200 to €9,000. Units are typically found in very good condition with minor signs of age, including light scratches. Small electrolytic capacitors are known to fail over time, potentially causing DC offset or degraded sound; maintenance usually involves replacing these capacitors, deep cleaning, and electronic calibration. Voltage conversion is possible for international use.
