Accuphase E-306V (1997)

Japanese-built integrated stereo amplifier with modular design and high-current output, released in December 1997

Overview

The Accuphase E-306V is an integrated stereo amplifier manufactured in Japan and released in December 1997. It is based on the earlier E-306 model and features a modular design that allows for expansion via optional input boards. The preamp and power amplifier sections are independently constructed, with dedicated power supply circuitry for the preamplifier and the ability to use each section separately via the SEPARATE switch. It includes a remote commander (RC-22) for volume control and input selection, using infrared pulse method with two AA batteries.

Design

The E-306V uses a current feedback circuit topology in both the power amplifier and line amplifier sections, stabilizing frequency response across gain changes. The line amplifier is discrete-type, built from individual components using a differential pure complementary push-pull circuit with emitter follower output. The power amplifier employs a parallel push-pull output stage with high-performance audio transistors mounted on a large heat sink for thermal stability. Signal path integrity is maintained through logic-controlled relays using hermetically sealed, gold-plated twin crossbar contacts. The tone control uses summing active filters derived from professional graphic equalizer designs. A 500 VA transformer and two 22,000 μF power supply capacitors provide robust power delivery. The unit includes a logarithmic compression peak power meter with analog display and a solid brass machined speaker terminal block. An AAB-standard slot on the rear allows installation of optional boards like the AD-10 phono stage.

Context

The E-306V is a variant of the successful E-306 integrated amplifier and is recognized as a classic model in the Accuphase lineup. It shares design lineage with other models including the E-305, E-305V, E-307, E-308, E-350, and E-406V.

Market

A used unit in very good condition was listed for $3,200 five years ago. A 1997 unit was listed on Yahoo Auctions for ¥500 on July 9, 2025. Common condition notes include light natural aging, with minor scratches and scuffs.
