Accuphase E-212 (1981)
Integrated stereo amplifier introduced in 1981 with current feedback topology, dual-mono design, and modular option board support
Overview
The Accuphase E-212 is an integrated stereo amplifier manufactured by Accuphase Laboratory, Inc., introduced in 1981. It features a current feedback circuit, a parallel push-pull output stage, and a discrete Class A preamplifier section. The design includes logic-controlled relays for signal routing, a motor-driven volume control, and tone controls for bass, mid, and treble, with a loudness switch and subsonic filter. Option boards allow for digital signal input or high-quality analog disc reproduction. The front panel includes INPUT, VOLUME, and SP/TONE/BAL/TAPE knobs, a headphone jack, and POWER, TONE, ATT, and MONO push-buttons. XLR (Canon) receptacles are provided on the rear panel. The E-212 succeeded the E-202 and was positioned above the E-205 in the product lineup.

Design
The E-212 uses a dual-mono design with two power transformers and four 15,000µF power supply capacitors. The power amplifier stage is DC-coupled, and the preamplifier section is a discrete Class A design. It contains dedicated assemblies including Power Amp, Volume, Input Selector, Logic, Tone Volume, Power Transformer, Protection, and Thermal Switch. Voltage conversion is facilitated by switching and soldering wires and replacing the fuse, supporting operation at 100V, 120V, or 230V.
Context
The E-212 succeeded the E-202 and was positioned above the E-205 in Accuphase’s lineup, designated as a "Classic Model." It was designed for high performance with modular expandability and high gain typical of Accuphase integrated amplifiers.
Market
A fully working, good-condition E-212 was expected to cost around GBP 1400–1500 in the UK as of early 2021. Some units may be subject to regional service restrictions, such as components sold in Portugal being eligible only for service through Accuphase Portugal.
