Accuphase DP-100 (Undated)
Super Audio CD transport designed for high-resolution playback and premium build quality
Overview
The Accuphase DP-100 Super Audio CD transport was developed by Accuphase Laboratory, a Japanese high-end audio manufacturer founded in Yokohama in 1972 by engineers formerly of Kenwood. The company was formed with the goal of creating uncompromised high-fidelity components, emphasizing accuracy and phase integrity—principles reflected in its name, a blend of "Accu" and "phase." The DP-100 is part of a flagship audiophile-grade digital system, paired with the DC-101 Precision Digital Processor, forming Accuphase's top-of-the-line transport and converter combination at the time of release. It succeeded the DP-90/DC-91 and shares lineage with the single-box DP-77, described as its "younger brother." The DP-100 can also be used with the DP-75V one-box player when equipped with the appropriate option card.

Design
The DP-100 features large, slab-like gold-toned faceplates and a discrete brown Nextel finish designed for acoustic damping. It is built with heavy construction typical of Accuphase, described as "built like a tank," with controls noted for being "reassuringly precise." The unit includes a high-class gold-toned metal remote control.
Context
Accuphase was the first non-Sony/Philips company to adopt SACD technology, positioning the DP-100 as the world’s first two-box SACD player from an outside manufacturer. The DP-100/DC-101 system was reviewed in 2001 by Stereophile, following a more cautious 2000 assessment in The Absolute Sound.
Market
The original system price for the DP-100 and DC-101 together was $28,000, with the DP-100 alone priced at $12,995. As of current listings, the complete system is valued at approximately $5,500. Brochures for the model have sold for €8 to €12 in European marketplaces between 2023 and 2026, and a replacement laser head is listed at CA$440.
