Accuphase A-60
Class-A stereo power amplifier with dual-mono design and 60 watts per channel into 8 ohms
Overview
The Accuphase A-60 is a solid-state stereo power amplifier introduced in 2005 as the newest model from Accuphase Laboratory, Inc. It delivers 60 watts per channel into 8 ohms, with power output reportedly doubling into 4 ohms and again into 2 ohms. Designed for high-end audio systems, the A-60 features pure Class-A operation, a dual-mono construction, and a massive power supply centered on a 1 kVA "Super Ring" toroidal transformer and 82,000μF of filter capacitance. The amplifier includes front-panel controls for gain, meter selection, input, power, and hold time, with dual-function power meters offering either digital readout or bar graph display.

Design
The A-60 uses MCS topology in its input circuitry and a current feedback design, with a power MOS-FET output stage in a 10-parallel push-pull configuration totaling 24 power transistors. It features dual-mono construction, a heavy-duty extruded aluminum heatsink, and a protection assembly. The front panel includes push-buttons for INPUT, POWER, and HOLD TIME, along with GAIN and METER knobs, and XLR input jacks.
Context
In 2005, the A-60 entered a competitive solid-state amplifier market alongside models like the Antique Sound Lab Hurricane DT monoblocks, Goldmund Mimesis 9, and Rowland Model 5. Accuphase, founded in 1972 by former Kenwood engineer Jiro Kasuga, designed the A-60 under its philosophy to "enrich life through technology," with the brand name derived from "accurate" and "phase."
Market
The Accuphase A-60 had an original price of $17,600 USD and was listed at CZK 169,000 in October 2025.
