Design
The A-20V operates in pure Class-A with a current feedback topology and uses Power MOS-FETs in a 3-parallel push-pull output stage. It features balanced inputs, a gain control switch (MAX: 28.0dB), and large analog power meters with peak hold and illumination control. The signal path employs high-purity copper with gold plating on PCB traces, connectors, and terminals. Modular construction and a high-efficiency ~400VA transformer with 47,000µF ×2 smoothing capacitors support its stable performance. Heavy-duty gold-plated speaker terminals are included.
Context
The A-20V is recognized as a classic model within Accuphase’s line of pure Class-A power amplifiers. It was designed for use in high-quality small systems or as a mid/high-range amplifier in multi-amplified setups, where its conservative power rating and musical realism are assets. The gain control enhances its flexibility when driving efficient speakers in such configurations.
Market
A refurbished unit was listed for approximately $2,193.18 USD, indicating its collectible status and enduring demand among audiophiles.
